Reiki is an ancient Japanese form of holistic healing. Reiki, pronounced ‘ray-key’, meaning life force energy, was rediscovered by Mikao Usui in the 1800’s, and developed as a non-invasive, safe and relaxing therapeutic treatment. It works by balancing and strengthening the body’s natural energy healing centres, within ourselves.
Many of us have experienced the great feelings of wellbeing that we get from being in a forest, garden or on the beach. It’s no coincidence that it’s because nature has an intense healing and restorative effect on us when we give it our time. Yet we don’t question it, because we know it to be so.
Reiki is no different, it harnesses healing energy from an even higher place than we can experience in the outdoors, with a specially trained, and attuned, practitioner.
Reiki can be practised on a person of any age, including babies, where it can help an infant after a traumatic birth for example. Reiki is non-invasive, it can be used to help support patients with challenging health problems by easing symptoms, pain and stress, and by promoting relaxation.
Some clients like to return regularly for Reiki sessions to help them manage stressful lives, which in turn improves many physical symptoms in the body, and greatly impacts general well-being.
